Carmel Cream Cake

This is from Grandma Davenport (Blanche)

I found this in her old recipe's so I thought I would add it.

2 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter
5 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
3 cup cake flour
5 tbsp. strong coffee
4 tsp cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Sift dry ingredients together, beat eggs whites. add separately. Add yolks to butter and sugar. But soda in buttermilk. Add all together. Stir in coffee and vanilla. Fold in whites.

Bake at 375 for 30-35 min 3 layers.

Icing

2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter
3 tbsp. coffee
1 egg yolk
2 tsp cocoa
1 tb Vanilla

Sift dry ing. Cream butter and sugar. Mix well and ice cake.
